Greetings Neighbors!
West Hill Neighborhood Organization is proud to spread the word about an exciting new program in the West Hill / Highland Square Neighborhood.
WHAT? City Fresh is a farm to city program that brings fresh produce into the city to people who may or may not have regular access to it. City Fresh buys produce (fruits, veggies and herbs) from local farmers and delivers it to a distribution point in the city. From there it goes to the neighborhood Fresh Stops that have signed on to the project. Neighborhood residents buy “shares” of produce (on a weekly basis) and pick up their share on a designated day. Akron’s day is Friday, June12 through September 18.
WHAT IS IN A SHARE? Vegetables, fruits, herbs…the contents will vary from week to week depending on what is ripe at local farms. More details are in the attached brochure.
HOW MUCH? The program costs $12/week for a Single Share (for 1-2 people) or $24 / week for a Family Share (for 3-4 people). A 50% discount is available for income-qualifying customers. You have to pay ahead. To get started, you pay for 2 weeks. Thereafter you can pay one week ahead and you can opt not the buy shares for any given week.
WHERE? In Akron, there are 3 neighborhood Fresh Stops – Highland Square, Lawton Street, and Lane Field Park on V Odom Blvd by the Odom Library. Cleveland has at least 10 and there are 3 in Lorain County. The Highland Square Fresh Stop is at the corner of Portage Path and Market St.
WHEN? The Summit Fresh Stops started Friday, June 12 and end Friday, September 18. Hours are 3:30 to 6:30 pm, rain or shine.
